What is PMAY-U 2.0?

PMAY-U 2.0 is the second phase of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban, which began in 2015. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) runs it with states, union territories and banks. Government assistance of ₹2.30 lakh crore was approved for it.

The scheme covers statutory towns as per Census 2011, towns notified later by states, and notified planning, development or industrial areas. Rural families are covered by a separate scheme, PMAY Gramin.

The four verticals of PMAY-U 2.0

Vertical Who it is for Benefit
Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC) EWS families with their own vacant land ₹2.50 lakh to build a new house, paid by DBT in three instalments (40:40:20)
